URGENT HELP NEEDED

Between drought and bush fires NSW is in crisis, it’s heartbreaking, unimaginable for those not affected, what these people in these areas are going through.

Having joined a Facebook Group, Coasties Drought Aid I have had my eyes opened.

This group is dedicated to helping the struggling farmers of NSW by people of the Central Coast, collecting non perishable food and toiletries, which are sent every few weeks. The response has been phenomenal especially over Christmas where well over 1,000 farmers and their families were adopted and received personalised hampers and gifts, hoping to give then as normal a Christmas as they could possibly have.

Being a card maker I believe that physically getting a card no matter the occasion is important in two ways, firstly so much nicer than a bill or the junk mail we received everyday and secondly and more importantly the fact that some one cares enough to make memories. I am 63 years of age and I still have cards I was sent when I was a kid. Personal messages from people I love and people who love me who are no longer with me, I can look at their handwriting, I can read how they expressed themselves. There is nothing personal in emails or gifs.

When I sent our hamper to our adopted farmers, I included a packet of various cards for them to use. As lovely as giving cards is, keeping a roof over your head, food on the table and caring for livestock, has to take priority when money is scarce, this brings me to why I need your help.

I would like to make cards available at the various Country Drought Pantries, so that people in need are able to still celebrate the occasions no matter what that may be.

This is where you come in, I am asking for cards to be donated so that we can get them out to the Drought Pantries, the cards would be free to those in need.

I can’t imagine a child not getting a Birthday Card but think what it would mean to be able to give your partner an Anniversary card or a Valentines and its never too early to start Christmas.

I will be co-ordinating this project with Coasties Drought Aid and I beg you to help us.

If you would like to, please either send me a message via Messenger or email me at sueallensimplycraft@bigpond.com

I really look forward to hearing from you.

Just to give you a bit of an idea what this amazing group headed by Melissa Turner achieved over Christmas

Drought pantries- Baradine, Mendooran, Leadville, Neilrex, Tooraweenah , Narromine had trailer loads full delivered.

Hundreds of litres of water provided .

100’s of people drove out there. I think there was 40 in our man convoy alone! Most stayed overnight. All bought food and drinks, petrol, local produce, arts n crafts, went to tourist destinations.

Many Coasties ordered hams from local butchers, paid feed bills, bought vouchers to be spent in local towns - totalling thousands of dollars .

Dollar value on the hampers was suggested by the Mayor of Tooraweenah to be $250,000!!!

KYLIE BERTUCCI'S INTERNATIONAL BLOG HIGHLIGHTS WINNERS HOP

Thank you for stopping by my blog today, I am so excited to be part of this month's International Highlights Winners Blog Hop which is hosted by Kylie Bertucci.

I can't believe that I finished in the top ten of Decembers International Highlights Blog Hop, which enable me to take part today. A huge thank you to everyone who voted for me.

Time factor is a huge thing for most of us, one of the many things I love in the new Mini Catalogue is the beautiful Designer Series Paper, so many are able to be used as the main feature of a card, this suits me so well to put something together quickly.

The theme of this Blog Hop is Encouragement so I have put together a Thank You card, I think it is so important to let people know you are grateful either for something they have done or for just being themselves.

For this card, I used the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, apart from the fact the Poppy has a huge significance for me, the paper is just beautiful and can be used as the focal point for so many occasions, as no doubt you will see in my future blogs

This is such a simple card, I hope you like it.

Again, thank you for stopping by and for voting for my Floral Essence card in the earlier Hop.

Please continue the hop by clicking on the name below mine (I'm Sue Allen) and see what beautiful designs these talented artists have come up with

If you would like to receive my weekly Newsletter, please complete the subscription form and as a thank you I will send you a free tutorial to a card project.

Take care, talk soon

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Image may contain: outdoor and nature

Night Before Christmas in Aussie land
'Twas the night before Christmas; there wasn't a sound.
Not a possum was stirring; no-one was around.
We'd left on the table some tucker and beer,
Hoping that Santa Claus soon would be here;
We children were snuggled up safe in our beds,
While dreams of pavlova danced 'round in our heads;
And Mum in her nightie, and Dad in his shorts,
Had just settled down to watch TV sports.
When outside the house a mad ruckus arose;
Loud squeaking and banging woke us from our doze.
We ran to the screen door, peeked cautiously out,
Snuck onto the deck, then let out a shout.
Guess what had woken us up from our snooze,
But a rusty old Ute pulled by eight mighty kangaroos.
The cheerful man driving was giggling with glee,
And we both knew at once who this plump bloke must be.
Now, I'm telling the truth it's all dinki-di,
Those eight kangaroos fairly soared through the sky.
Santa leaned out the window to pull at the reins,
And encouraged the 'roos, by calling their names.
'Now, Kylie! Now, Kirsty! Now, Shazza and Shane!
On Kipper! On, Skipper! On, Bazza and Wayne!
Park up on that water tank. Grab a quick drink,
I'll scoot down the gum tree. Be back in a wink!'
So up to the tank those eight kangaroos flew,
With the Ute full of toys, and Santa Claus too.
He slid down the gum tree and jumped to the ground,
Then in through the window he sprang with a bound.
He had bright sunburned cheeks and a milky white beard.
A jolly old joker was how he appeared.
He wore red stubby shorts and old thongs on his feet,
And a hat of deep crimson as shade from the heat.
His eyes - bright as opals - Oh! How they twinkled!
And, like a goanna, his skin was quite wrinkled!
His shirt was stretched over a round bulging belly
Which shook when he moved, like a plate full of jelly.
A fat stack of prezzies he flung from his back,
And he looked like a swaggie unfastening his pack.
He spoke not a word, but bent down on one knee,
To position our goodies beneath the yule tree.
Surfboard and footy-ball shapes for us two.
And for Dad, tongs to use on the new barbeque.
A mysterious package he left for our Mum,
Then he turned and he winked and he held up his thumb;
He strolled out on deck and his 'roos came on cue;
Flung his sack in the back and prepared to shoot through.
He bellowed out loud as they swooped past the gates-
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and goodonya, MATES!'

COME SAIL AWAY MEMORIES AND MORE CARDS

I discovered Pocket Scrapbooking about 7 years ago, it seems a great idea to get photos scrapped quickly. I bought just about every card pack I came across, but I didn't consider for one minute using them to make cards.

Only a few months ago after buying the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack did I use some of them for cardmaking. I was hooked.

The Memories and More Card Packs are perfect for the beginner cardmaker to the avid cardmaker, There is no limit to the beautiful cards that can be made.

SOMETHINGS YOU JUST CAN'T GET RID OFF

I'm madly trying to get my Christmas cards finished, as I've said before there are some stamp sets I will keep forever so I've been using some of those together with some retired cardstock and DSP.

From day one I have loved the Sign of Santa Bundle, oh that DSP!. it could be used as the total focus of the card, I wish it had been carried over.

It is so versatile and user friendly

I even made a few samplers using the set

I am offering a share of all the DSP in the catalogue and a separate offer of a share of all the beautiful new ribbons.

Full payment is due 27th December, 2019

STAMPIN' DREAMS BLOG HOP DECEMBER , 2019

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop., the last one for 2019.This month's theme is SAB/Occasions Catalogue Sneak Peek.

Possibly by now many of you will have received a copy of the new Mini Catalogue which goes live 3rd January, 2020. I have to say it is absolutely beautiful with something for every level of stamper.

For this Blog I chose the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set, I wanted to keep it simple but stepping it up just a tad. This is a gorgeous delicate set which can be used for Weddings, encouragement/comfort etc.

As I said, I kept it simple, I used Gray Granite to stamp the image and coloured with Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green blends.

Thank you for stopping by, to whet your appetite for the new Mini Catalogue, please continue through the hop and see some beautiful projects.

FROM OUR DOG TO YOURS

If you have read my About Me page, you will have seen a photo of our fur-baby Max.

Max is a very social dog, he even has his own Facebook page with over 100  friends. At Christmas he has people he needs to send cards to, his walker, his groomer, his aunties, his doggie friends, so Mum get the job of making them.

One Stamp set I will never get rid of is Bella and Friends, it reminds me so much of him.

This is his card this Christmas.

This year he needs a pussy card too, so thankfully I still had the Pretty Kitty stamp set.

Simple cards but so cute. the Santa Hat was fussy cut from another retired set, Signs of Santa.
